I have to admit that here in Central Europe, there is limited awareness of lesser-known Romance languages like Catalan and Occitan in Central Europe. I’ve learned that Occitan is spoken in southern France, parts of northern Italy, and in the Val d’Aran region of Spain, where it’s supposedly known as Aranese.

Could you share your insights on how many locals speak Occitan/Oc as their mother tongue and how many understand it in these regions? Additionally, what are the current efforts to preserve and promote the language?
