A poem is born as it can.
Can by a will, a sneeze.
Can by a book, a text, or film,
a myth, a fact,
a custom or something that is understood to get used.
Can by tears and less salty souls.
Can by the limits, by the edges, banks and sides,
by the extreme, by the margins.
Can by the conquest of huge empires,
by the earth, by the house or mud hole.
Can for meat, battles, kisses and horses.
Can by resilience, insistence and torture.
By everything, by the frivolous, by the almost null.
Can by the image of what is just felt.
Can in the west,
in the east and in any part of the chest.
A poem is born as it can,
when it can, in its own way.

Um poema nasce como pode.
Pode por uma vontade, um espirro.
Pode por um livro, um texto, ou filme,
um mito, um facto,
um costume ou aquilo que se entenda acostumar.
Pode pelas lágrimas e almas menos salgadas.
Pode pelos limites, pelas bordas, beiras e lados,
pelo extremo, pelas margens.
Pode pela conquista de vastos impérios,
pela terra, pela casa ou toca de lama.
Pode pela carne, batalhas, beijos e cavalos.
Pode pela resiliência, insistência e torturas.
Pelo tudo, pelo leviano, pelo quase nulo.
Pode pela imagem do que só se sente.
Pode no ocidente,
no oriente e em qualquer parte do peito.
Um poema nasce como pode,
quando pode, a seu jeito.
