Anyway, the weather as I've said, was glorious and warm. So we went down in his car - and boy is it low down on the ground. I could hardly get myself down far enough to get in. When I at last managed it - it was very comfy and we went to see the sea.
We were going to go to Westward Ho! but it was simply heaving - the tide was in and what beach there was, was full of people. So we went to West Appledore instead. What I wasn't aware of, was that it was Regatta Week and it was heaving too, but luckily it was all along the quayside, and we drove over to the slipway of the Lifeboat station, where it was quieter.
There were quite a few people cooling off in the sea and I'd have loved to have joined them. There is a superb house called "The Old Custom House" which is facing the sea and what a place to live......
I remember being very envious of anyone who lived there way back in the 1960's. I'm still envious of them because it must be amazing to wake up and see these views from every window...
It was such a lovely day, you tend to forget that it faces the Atlantic Ocean and whenever there are storms and bad weather - it is in the face of it and not too pleasant at all. It's still a fantastic house though....
Meanwhile they were all enjoying themselves in the sea. They were using the slipway of the Lifeboat Station - perfect.
So that was my trip out to the seaside and it was absolutely fantastic to feel the wind in my hair and the sun on my face. Also to smell the sea - superb.
Thought you'd like to see and hear what I did.
