Through the Strait of Hormuz, now blocked by Iran, pass the ships that carry a fifth of the world's oil.
Five hundred years ago, for over a century (1515-1622), Portugal dominated the strait and the trade exchanges that then passed through it, occupying the Hormuz Island with the Fort of Our Lady Conceição, built over 30 years.
The customs duties charged were intended for the Portuguese State of India (and not Portugal), which was autonomous and always had surplus budgets until the fall of Hormuz in 1622.
With all its powerful arsenal and high technology the USA seems to ignore that only by occupying the ground is possible to ensure the success of the objectives they set out to achieve in Iran. The war effort they are currently undertaking, highly costly and punitive for the populations is doomed to fail.
The whole world pays the price for erratic policies.

As taxas alfandegárias cobradas destinavam-se ao Estado Português da India (e não a Portugal), que era autónomo e teve sempre orçamentos excedentários até à queda de Ormuz, em 1622.
Com todo o seu poderoso arsenal e alta tecnologia os EUA parecem ignorar que só com a ocupação do terreno é possível garantir o sucesso dos objectivos que se propuzeram conquistar no Irão. O esforço de guerra que actualmente conduzem, altamente dispendioso e punitivo das populações, está condenado ao fracasso.
Quem paga a factura de políticas erráticas é o mundo inteiro.
