The Portuguese Army Day is celebrated on October 24th remembering the remote year of 1147, when Lisbon was conquered by D. Afonso Henriques, our first king and founder. Last years the itinerant ephemeris has been celebrated in diverse main cities. Current year's commemoration took place in Castelo Branco.

The Literary Exhibition, by occasion of the Army Day, settled down at the Cybercentro in the mentioned city, from October 18th to 24th, 2010, under the theme "The Army and The Letters".

It is a real surprise that a small professional group as the army had been generating so many literary talents. In the present case sixty six writers co-operated for the exhibition purpose and were integrated into the respective catalogue. Naturally most authors write upon subjects of History, Strategy, Defence, Safety and International Relations. However, it is no less significant the minority belonging to the pure literary side of creative prose and poetry. It's my case, as probably you are aware.

O Dia do Exército Português é comemorado a 24 de Outubro recordando o longínquo ano de 1147, quando Lisboa foi conquistada por D. Afonso Henriques, nosso primeiro rei e fundador. Nos últimos anos a efeméride tem vindo a ser itinerantemente celebrada em diversas cidades principais. No corrente ano as comemorações ocorreram em Castelo Branco.

A Exposição Literária, por ocasião do Dia do Exército, realizou-se no Cybercentro da referida cidade, entre 18 e 24 de Outubro de 2010, subordinada ao tema "O Exército e as Letras".

É realmente surpreendente que um pequeno grupo profissional como o exército tenha vindo a gerar tantos talentos litrerários, no caso vertente sessenta e seis escritores cooperaram para a exposição e foram integrados no respectivo catálogo. Naturalmente a maioria dos autores escreve sobre assuntos de História, Estratégia, Segurança, Defesa e Relações Internacionais. No entanto, não é menos significativa uma minoria que se insere na pura literaratura criativa, da prosa e da poesia. É o meu caso, como provavelmente sabem.
