FOR SUNDAY CHALLENGE GROUP
www.ipernity.com/group/daysincolour365, STREET PHOTOGRAPHY
STREET PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT MY THING, SO NOT EASY FOR ME. IN THE VILLAGE I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PHOTOGRAPHING MY NEIGHBOURS AND AT THE SEA THERE IS SUCH A TOURISTIC INVASION THAT I WOULD NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE PHOTOGRAPHING PEOPLE ON THE STREETS AND BE SPOTTED, WHO KNOWS... AGRESSED VERBALY?
THERE IS ALSO THAT I WOULD NOT LIKE IF SOMEONE I DON'T KNOW PHOTOGRAPHED ME IN MY DAY TO DAY LIFE...
A FEW YEARS AGO I WENT TO MAROCCO WITH SOME PHOTOGRAPHERS WHO WERE VERY KEEN ON STREET PHOTOGRAPHY, AND I DID SOME. THE GOOD THING WITH THE LEICA Q SERIES IS THAT THEY ARE COMPLETELY SILENT, HAVING IT HANGING ON MY NECK AND HALF COVERED WITH A LIGHT SCARF I WAS ABLE TO SHOOT WITHOUT BEING SPOTTED, THE 28MM ALLOWING A LARGE RANGE.
AS WE ALL RESPECTED PEOPLE THE THING WAS TO ASK FIRST. BUT I CHEATED (OTHERS DID THE SAME), I SHOOT FIRST AND ASKED PERMISSION AFTER, IF PERMISSION GIVEN I TOOK A NEW SHOT, SHOWED IT... AND MOST OF THE TIMES DELETED IT BECAUSE THE SUBJECT WAS POSING AND NOT NATURAL.
SAME THING WITH THIS ONE, SO THIS IS THE FIRST SHOT. USUALLY PEOPLE POSED IN EXCHANGE OF SOME SMALL CHANGE, NORMAL, FOR THEM WE ARE RICH PEOPLE...

I can relate to what you say and in certain countries it's irresponsible and disrespectful when tourists take photos of local people. I vividly remember people in Bolivia covering their faces when they saw tourists- having your photo taken is considered as having your soul stolen...

In Bahlil they proposed themselves to be photographed, it is a very poor village, nevertheless and evne giving some money I felt very uncomfortable.

It is not a question of acting low profile, I just don't enjoy street photography, I have the feeling not to respect people: I would not like to be photographed by unknown persons like if I was a curiosity, so I don’t usually do it to others.
