This afternoon, we were walking along the old railway track about two km from our house when I heard a bird squeaking in the tree above us. I could see it jumping around but it hardly stopped long enough to get a good look, and it was especially hard to get the camera focussed.

But I did get a couple of shots that let me figure out -- once we were home -- that it was a Golden-crowned kinglet. It's a tiny bird, not much bigger than a hummingbird. He was eating insects.
