I've been known to confuse female Purple finches with sparrows, especially White-crowned sparrows. And so this morning, I was looking at a half-dozen of the first when I discovered one of them, this one, was of the second. It has been seven or eight years since I've (really) seen one in our backyard, so it's a bit of a rarity.
