DH41 20241123 14 35 13 Pro

At DownsSteam work restoration work has started. The cooling system and its canopy have been removed form the short end and the diesel engine has been removed from the long end along with most of the bodywork. The bogies have been removed and the loco is on stands. Also see PiP. November 2024

Yes, this type does seem to serve heritage rail well. In addition to being Australian designed and manufactured though using an imported engine and cooling system.

Very nice to see restoration, but I do wonder the point at which it becomes easier to bulld new..
We have one locomotive running in Wales which was a total new build, except for the reversing lever from the original, hence a 'restoration project'! (Strangely, I don't have a pic here)
