Diesen Trauer-Rosenkäfer (Oxythyrea funesta) fand ich kürzlich bei einer Wanderung. Er war im Bereich des Brustpanzers deutlich beschädigt, vermutlich durch den Schnabelangriff eines Vogels (siehe ins Bild eingefügte Notiz). Die Tiere leben in Wärmegebieten, vor allem in Nordafrika und dem restlichen Mittelmeerraum, östlich bis Transkaukasien auf Steppenheiden und Kalkböden. Sehr selten sind sie auch in Südwestdeutschland zu finden. In Bayern gelten sie als stark gefährdet. Sie fliegen von Mai bis Juli. Sie sind mit dem häufigen einfarbig grünen Rosenkäfer verwandt.

I found this Oxythyrea funesta recently during a hike. It was clearly damaged in the area of the breastplate, probably by the beak attack of a bird (see note inserted in the picture). The animals live in warm regions, mainly in North Africa and the rest of the Mediterranean, east to Transcaucasia on steppe heaths and calcareous soils. They are also very rarely found in southwest Germany. In Bavaria they are considered to be highly endangered. They fly from May to July. They are related to the common monochrome flower chafer.
