Here in Tyrol another type of start is common: the Olfactory Beginning of Spring. You'll smell it everywhere as soon as the farmers are able to dispense the slurry over their meadows. But a capture is not easy to make. Most of the time it's to late to take a picture, when you smell it, the tractor is to far away, it looks like bullshit, the light isn't fine, the background not fitting . . .! But that day I was in luck! (Captured with 195 mm equivalent focal length from a safe distance.)

Hier in Tirol gibt es jedoch noch einen weiteren: den olfaktorischen Frühlingsanfang. Man riecht ihn allerorten, sobald der Zustand der Wiesen es den Bauern ermöglicht, die Wintergülle ausbringen. Vor die Linse bekommt man ihn allerdings kaum. Denn wenn der Geruch in die Nase steigt, ist es für ein Foto meist zu spät, oder der Traktor unerreichbar weit weg. Oder er sieht Sche...e aus. Oder das Licht ist doof, der Hintergrund grauslich . . .! An diesem Tag aber hatte ich Glück! (Fotografiert mit effektiv 195mm KB-äquvalent aus sicherer Entfernung.)
