Sea Wall, pip

The Sea Wall as the sun sets, Bridgwater Bay at Burnham on Sea, Somerset, The pip shows South Esplanade which is along the top of the wall,

A wall of this size is needed because of the huge tidal range which is the second highest in the world, the steps are designed to take the power from waves before they hit the wall which is curved to throw the water back into the sea.

HWW, Roger! That must be a real spectacle when the waves crash against the wall.

Une capture excellemment prise sous cet angle et admirablement partagée. L'endroit semble a l'abrit des éléments déchaînés à avec cette imposante muraille. Le Pip est vraiment remarquable.

Cleverly designed and impressive looking sea defences Roger.............and the way the light catches the wall is lovely. I like the hint of colour in the sky and your composition is spot on - there's certainly no shortage of leading lines.

Great to see some people in the frame for scale. Beautifully captured!

An elegant structure, Roger, and one that I hope is effective. (I think Burnham-on-Sea is the third biggest tidal range rather than the second, Roger, just being pipped by the mouth of the Fitzroy River in Derby, WA which is just shy of 12 metres. Still darned big, though, especially in an urban area.)
