Maine, 1979

Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: FOOD.
For the week of April 20 - April 26. 2026.
My first vacation with my boyfriend/husband to be.
We were camping on the beach or close to it, and we would mostly eat at fish-shacks, where you could get fresh caught seafood - fairly cheap, fried, and lots of it.
Yum!

This is a cut Polaroid.

Well, Though I can't compete with all those stars I do concur with the rating. A lovely portrait that is surely beloved by the photographer. And, hey, the food looks good too.

Thanks, Rick! You were vacationing in Maine around that time - perhaps you ate at some of the same fish-shacks!
Are you back in California? It’s nice to see your posts again!

RicksPics replied to Deborah Lundbech:

Could be that we dined in the same places. Our Maine friends worked summers in one in the late '60s, COOKS. It's still operating in Harpswell and we've eaten there a few times over the years. Yes, we're home again and warm again ;) Having lived through many frigid winters as a kid, I had no concerns about Boston in March. I was wrong. Too long in the sun has made me a sad, sensitive, petunia; and Mary even more so. We spent five weeks looking like Michelin Men, in layers and layers, while the grandkids were playing outside in shirtsleeves. I had considered the possibility of moving there, since three of the girls live there now. Slipping and sliding on the short walks from house to car disabused me of such notions. :)

m h: I think you’re right. My friend and I went to Europe for almost five months with about 700 dollars. I was twenty, my friend a couple of years younger. We had never camped before, but were in a tiny tent from June until October and then spent a few nights in pensionnes in Spain before heading back to stay in B&Bs and with relatives in November.
Amazing memories.
During that time we were not in touch with family or friends in the States - except for a few postcards.
Unthinkable today - but pure bliss for us!

Rick - We might have already talked about this, but our family stayed in Harpswell one June. So lovely!
(Did they work in that large white house near the causeway?)
Brian and I are definitely feeling the cold more these days - but not enough to abandon Vermont! Our kids complain that are house is too hot - just like we did to my parents. (Sorry, parents.)
