A lot of rain indeed, William. With the atmosphere able to carry more moisture as it warms, plus the warmer oceans, events such as this are becoming more frequent.

Thank you John, Tiabunna, Diana, Annemarie, Malik, Nouchetdu, and Dominique! Yes, with climate change these events have become more common and with regard to LA, it was a year's worth of rain in four days. Sadly, on a more serious note, there was significant mudslides, numerous toppled trees from wind gusts of up to 100 MPH, extensive flooding, $11 billion in damage, and 9 deaths. :( Also, Las Vegas, NV broke its daily rainfall record for 5 February that had been set in 1948.

Interestingly, there was also a 2.6 earthquake centered just outside of LA on 5 February 2024 followed by a smaller quake. Since then, there have been two 4.6 quakes centered around Malibu and Santa Monica but fortunately with no damage and no casualties.
