The star lichen belongs to the group of foliose lichens. It usually forms small, circular rosettes (hence the name "star") that adhere firmly to the bark. When dry, its color is light gray to almost whitish; when wet, it can take on a slightly greenish hue. Apothecia (fruiting bodies): these are easily recognizable by their dark, cup-shaped structures with light-colored edges.

Le lichen étoilé appartient au groupe des lichens foliacés. Il forme généralement de petites rosettes circulaires (d'où son nom) qui adhèrent fermement à l'écorce.
