This is in Wuwei and is the largest Confucian Temple in Northwest China, built in 1437-39. It was for centuries an elite learning Academy for students wishing to enter the Imperial public service. To gain an admission brought huge honour to a whole family, and to excel in studies brought safe lifelong employment and pay. The students worked very hard.
