H is for Hummingbird

This image not only looks as if it was old. It is old.
I took this ten years ago in Brazil. I was so fascinated by hummingbirds, but only had a small compact camera with me. It was impossible to catch one in flight. For this photo I climbed on a tree. Unfortunately, I did not notice (until too late) that it was full of Brazilian ants ...

Guys, I am always full of admiration for your hummingbird photos. Be happy that you have these birds, here they do not exist unfortunately.

Oh Chrissy!!! I loved reading about this picture...it's really, really beautiful. I have never seen a hummingbird like this before, it's so lovely!! It looks like it has a split tail? Amazing!! I only know of short-tailed ones. I love the colors, and the setting is so wonderfully tropical! LOL, please forgive me for giggling at the thought of you climbing up, getting this amazing picture, and then..."Oh S###!! What's biting me?!! OMG WTF IS THAT?! BITING ANTS!! AHHHHH!!!!" In my head I have an animated cartoon of you running around in circles screaming and swatting at ants! :D Oh Chrissy, I'm so sorry you got bit by nasty ants! :( They can be AWFUL! I had no idea that there are itty bitty tiny ants that are only about 2-3mm in size with little wasp butts...and they can sting you over and over again...and we have them HERE! They are called "Fire Ants" and for good reason! Thankfully I have only had a couple of them on me, but whenever I do they sting me in a row like five times before I mash them into nothing--then I look to see what was hurting me and it's this TINY LITTLE ANT! I cannot believe something so tiny stings so much! (Here is a great picture I found of one of these little Bast**ds!! Fire Ant with Stinging Butt in the Air

I love your hummingbird picture...it's so funny that I put up a picture of a hummingbird moth! *high five to my amazing pod sister* :D
