Two photos here from this spot, looking both ways. This shot shows the steep water chute after exiting the 1.5km tunnel that starts life at the bottom of Raven Stones.I have read reports that children used to slide down the chute into the deep pool here on hot summer days when an old ladder was in place near the top (since removed.) The almost solid funnels, which are both full of water, are simply used to break up the fast flow of water after heavy rain. See next photo for the other view which shows Alderman Hill in the background before the water descends through a series of weirs eventually emptying into Dovestones reservoir.
