NC500 GT. - 11 - Applecross

After travelling west from Inverness and its Black Isle, our next call is the wonderful remote peninsular of Applecross, north-west of Kyle of Lochalsh in Wester Ross, Scottish Highlands. This 1993 slide is taken from near our rental holiday cottage at Camusterrach about 2 miles south of the village of Applecross. We are actually looking west over the Inner Sound to the Isle of Skye.

A 1993 slide.

The NC 500: The Scottish 'North Coast 500' is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. A route of just over 500 miles (516) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages and hidden gems.

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Peace perfect peace. Taken just near our cottage. We had several night and days like this, but I only have a couple of dozen slide conversions at most of the area.

Cheers. Herb

Herb Riddle replied to Roger (Grisly):

How can we not love such places my friend. This was in my back garden at the time. Glad you enjoyed it too.

My pleasure to share in the NC500 group as you know.

This brings back vivid memories of arriving in Applecross on a very hot day and buying drinks at the post office - an over friendly Dalmation dog came to greet us. Highland Toffee was purchased. We also drove down to the end of the road south to Toscaig before continuing North to complete the circuit to Shieldaig. What a day we had.
