NC500 GT. - 12 - Applecross

Another look across to Skye from Camusterrach, Applecross. The white house was our home for a week. See adjacent photo for details of the area.

A 1993 slide.

The NC 500: The Scottish 'North Coast 500' is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. A route of just over 500 miles (516) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages and hidden gems.

NB the village of Plockton is just 10 miles south of here -as the crow flies!

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

In the evening we watched the brilliant stars sat on rocks at the edge of the house. (The other side that we see here.) A wonderful place and I believe it is still a holiday home. Glad you liked it.

Wow! What an amazing place to be based!

This is a really beautiful shot Herb.........the mountains of Skye make a magnificent backdrop and the light is gorgeous. The house looks very impressive and I like the broken and distorted reflections.

Very well composed and taken..!!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Very happy that you popped by Keith. Yes this was a wonderful spot that we loved dearly. The stars at night were so incredible I have never seen the like since. Surrounded by such serene scenery we were in heaven as would you have been too but a long haul from our homes in England. Great that you have enjoyed it.

You will see, that I, along with Roger (Grisly) are endeavouring to catalogue some of the highlights with this NC500 in this group.

Best Wishes. Herb

Hi Herb
A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
Very nice composition, as always.
It was suggested that we visit Applecross, but sadly didn't have the time.
Of course we saw many people doing the NC500.. (especially Germans)
Best Wishes, Happy Monday, a nice week ahead, and stay safe!!

Herb Riddle replied to Peter_Private_Box:

Thanks for this Peter. The Applecross Peninsular is a fantastic place. We had a week here all those years back. This cottage is now an AirB&B and we have just seen its is just over £1500 for a week this October. - Yes there was a lot of Gemans when we were up on near Durness in 2014.
I expect that you, like me would be happy about that and being able to rekindle some of your German language skills. Perhaps you have some more photos of your own travels on this route that we could share in the NC500 group.

Keep safe and enjoy the week. Herb (Greetz also to Füsun)

A wonderful stop for anybody lucky enough to get here Roger. The roads around here were a bit hairy in places for sure.
