This is what the area around my house looked like - it made everything look so clean and pristine. I realise that this was when my cat Pippin was a year old, so that makes him 13!!! He took one look at the snow and front paw in the air, he turned abruptly and shot back indoors - whereas his sister, Tippi, thought it was a great thing and spent ages shovelling the snow with her nose and then ran around like a mad thing...
I've not seen hoar frost since - it's an amazing thing.isn't it? Mind you - it was very cold!!! The ice on the windows of my front porch made beautiful patterns and in fact it was so cold, it stayed there for about three days!!!! I do have a front door between the porch and my hallway, so I managed to keep the cold out of the main house really.,...
My town looked absolutely gorgeous with the snow, for about a day, before people were shovelling it up and cars and buses etc, were churning up the snow, but I did go down to the quayside early in the day and managed to capture the beauty before it was spoiled..
It was a lovely sight - so much nicer than rain and cold winds. Still I'm saying this 12 years since it happened, and so I'm sure the freezing coldness has ebbed in my memories somewhat, so it doesn't seem as if it was as bad as it actually was!!! I'm sure that those of you who do have snow and are shivering away, are probably laughing at me - saying how lucky I am not to have any of the white stuff here. You are probably right!
Today I looked at the webcam of Westward Ho! and the beach was deserted, with just a man and his two dogs walking along the sand.
It's such a beautiful view, I wish I could just get a car and get out there and hear the waves for myself. Soon I hope. Although it was very cold today - around 2C, it wasn't as cold as it had been in 2010. If you have snow and are cold - sorry - it won't be for long and soon we'll have wonderfully warm spring weather and the beauty it always brings.

I can already see how the daylight is increasing. Perhaps only minutes per day, but it's there inevitably. Our Spring comes in April. I like winter and snow, but the spring and the first flowers... And yes, I'm familiar with T.S. Eliot's Waste Land and the famous opening line:
"April is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain. Winter kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow, feeding A little life with dried tubers..."
I just love our four seasons, but spring is my favourite, with the promise of all the upcoming. The birds nest, everything in nature awakes. It also wakes up the poet in my heart.

I love Spring too - it's my favourite month. I especially love my garden in the Springtime, I have so many trees which have blossom on them, it's absolutely beautiful. Also I have a lot of wild flowers in the garden - so lots of colour there.
