Bad Footstool
Many years ago, my ‘mother-in-law’ had a drawer in her kitchen where she’d keep treats such as chocolate, crisps, and suchlike. She used to call it her goody draw, though I used to think of it as the bad draw due to the calorific nature of said goods. I don’t have room in my kitchen for such a draw, so I started placing similar items into the foot stool. This is quite large and has a hinged lid that could easily trap unwittingly fingers that aren’t fast enough. It was the one item of furniture that the dog was allowed on (it was covered in a blanket) and as such, there was often very little in it in case of ‘accidents.’ This no longer applies, so now it’s become the bad footstool lol.

Work was okay last week with a mere one hours’ overtime, though I did work overtime on bank holiday Monday for more than 5 hours, so that’s good. I’m now off for 8 days. Fantastic!

The Monday was okay, not too busy, though at one point I had to leave the shop floor as I was close to tears. No, customers had been good, though I managed to catch my trolley on an end of aisle bollard, and the jarring of that, caused pain to shoot up my bad arm. OMG it hurt! I had to compose myself out the back, rub my arm, and wipe my moist eyes. A colleague offered to complete my pick which was nice of her, but I still had an hour to go so I manfully carried on once I’d composed myself. Afterwards, it didn’t hurt so I guess the pain meds I’m on did something. Mostly, I’m only taking one before work, and one at bedtime, though Monday I did take a second one. My sleep has been better which is good and in work I’m managing to get a better pick rate. I’d been picked up on it recently, and the one day I had a really good pick, I was in the Blue, and showed it to the supervisor and jokingly said: In your face, LMAO. She encouraged me and stated they don’t expect me to make the pick rate, though any improvement is good. To be honest, I was getting fed up with the small picks, and I find you walk more doing them as you’re back and forth too often.

During my time off, I had toyed with going down to South Wales though I doubt I will. Last time I visited, the house that’s available was grubby and I doubt that’s changed. The drive is arduous, especially with the pain in my shoulder and wrist, and don’t even get me started on the price of petrol! No, I shall just hang out at home, get some R&R, and maybe pop to the next town over to see if I can buy some new clothes. Our town is sparse where clothes shops are concerned.

After a real dearth of donuts, this week we were left donuts not once, but twice. I was bad and had one each time lol. Not much else going on. We’re going to treat ourselves to a takeaway curry during my time off – I have a mild one, and we have the makings of a cocktail to go with it. Nice!

Take care, be safe, and somebody please bring back the sunshine!

Oww! Sorry about the arm. I can imagine the pain. Remember unless these pills are anti inflammatorial they just disguise the pain. Not cure it although getting rid of the pain is the goal
I don't blame you for staying home. Between the ride, the discomfort and cost... Nevermind if the house isn't clean. Yuck Staying home sounds besr.
Maybe you'll get lucky and find a bargain while shopping!

Thanks Gracie. The meds contain paracetamol as well, which is an anti-inflammatory. Also using a gel for same which is helping a lot. I can only use it 3 times a day, though I have a cooling gel that's homeopathic if I feel the need. I use a support bandage too, in work, and that makes it bearable, unless of course, I ram into bollards! lol.

Oh poor you, Fran - it sounds horrible to get to the point of having a bit of a cry because of the pain. It's no good pushing yourself too hard, just do the basic and take care. At least you can have 8 days of rest now - unless you want to drive and buy clothes in the nearby town. I was horrified to see the price of petrol now - I haven't had to buy any myself for about 2 years, having no car, but boy I wouldn't be able to afford to run one anyway at the moment. Look after yourself sweetie and take care. I'm having a ball with my daughter here - keep looking at her and can't believe she's actually here with me.

Thanks Jenny. At one point, I did look at an Admin job for same supermarket in a store further away. With the cost of petrol now, I'm so glad I didn't go for it. I don't drive far at all now as it's too expensive.

Glad you're having a good time :)
