The Australian Magpie is totally unrelated to the European Magpie. They are usually friendly (though a few occasionally become aggressive in the nesting season). This one was hoping for a few food scraps in an outdoor coffee area.
I recently heard about an Australian man who raised a magpie and later released it back into the wild. The magpie kept coming back to visit the man, and he suspected that her offspring came to see him later on as well, though they weren’t as trusting as their mother. :)
