Baby owl in a santuary in Cheshire.
Taken some time ago , but recently re-discovered after I lost thousands of pictures due to a hard drive failure.

A great re-discovery Richard. It would have broken my heart to realise such photos were lost due to a HD failure. A great capture here. Well done.

Happy 2026. Herrb

Richard Nuttall replied to Herb Riddle:

Thanks Herb , it was a bit of a disaster, but not much I could do given there was literally no warning. Thankfully I was able to get some off the drive using Recuva plus I was able to down load from here and from Facebook, so bad as it was, it could have been worse.

Herb Riddle replied to Richard Nuttall:

Thanks for this reply Richard. In actual fact I had a HD disaster only a month or so back when one of my internal 2TB SSD's had a hardware failure that dragged the whole PC down. Took me some time to diagnose that problem and I had to give the disc up and buy another to replace it. It was in fact the HD that I used to put most of my data on including almost all my programs and my documents other than the essential system software stored on the relatively small (260GB) C: SSD. The old disc is not recognised now but I will download that Recuva prog and give it a whirl via my external USB HD carrier. - I will let you know how I got on.

Cheers. Herb
ps I had backed up the SSD before but it was almost 18mths old so getting some of it back will be prized. My media files are on yet another Internal SSD but that is all backed up very regularly.

Update: Just tried that recovery prog. No dice. Its got to recognise the device at least and that is not happening. Fried, I'm afraid.

Nightmare Herb, luckily I was able at least to get some of my data before the drive totally died , but its really not good. Its the fact there's no warning of failure at all on Windows Yet when I tried to recover files off the same drive with Recuva using my Linux pc, it gave me a warning that the drive was about to totally fail! Too late to get any more data off it but at least it would have given me more warning

Awesome selective color capture!

Richard Nuttall replied to William Sutherland:

Thanks William , I think the selective colour works really well when you have huge eyes like this boy had. He was sitting in a big box at the reception of the owl sanctuary, they were getting him used to seeing people.
