Two excellent photos, the butterfly blends in so well with the flowers. The colours evoke late summer/early autumn:-)

That's interesting as I have only ever known it as a hedge brown! I have had a few in the garden and tried to get pictures of them, but they weren't happy about it. Your main shot with the wings outstretched is beautiful, and shows the markings well.

A gorgeous PiP, and it shows wonderful detail of the butterfly and ragwort. The flowers looks very pretty in their clusters, for a poisonous plant!

Happy Tuesday Keith.

Keith Burton replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

Ha, ha..........I had no idea either until I looked up the butterfly in my field guide. I initially thought it was a Meadow Brown which are very similar!

I'm pleased you like both photos Rosa..........and thanks for your nice comments,

A couple of very impressive macros here Keith. Both different in approach with the P.O.V's and light but both very nice indeed. Well done.

ps never knowingly seen one of these Gatekeeper butterflies for real.

Cheers. Herb
