Bee in Flight

This is what I would call an "if only" shot..................in this case, "if only" I had used a faster shutter speed..!!

Even shooting at 1/2000 sec wan't fast enough to freeze its wing movement...............the nearest wing is beating so fast you can't even see it!

Better viewed large if you want :-)

This is an outstanding one*****************************************, and bee's wings are incredibly fast. But I'd rather have it like this, you can perceive movement, and if wings wre frozen it would not be so poetical, IMHO

Keith Burton replied to Xata:

Thank you so much Isabel.............I'm really glad you like it. I understand what you say, but personally I'd have liked the nearest wing to have been at least a bit more visible :-)

I know those "if only" moments very well Keith! However, I tend to agree with Isabel. I would be very happy with this shot. I love the detail captured in the Lamb's Tail! Great colours and so pretty!

Keith Burton replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

Thanks Ross...............I think most photographers do :-)

I'm pleased you like the shot............but as I've said said to Isabel, I have liked the wing nearest to the camera to have at least been visible. Fussy, I know :-)))

Glad you like the Lamb's Tail too.............the bees really seem to like it, despite their tiny flowers.

You can't knock this one Keith,.. it's smack on,.. I reckon it would be very difficult to freeze the wing movement of these bees... so give yourself a pat on the back for this,.. // Dj.

Keith Burton replied to David G Johnson:

Thank you David.............I'm pleased you like it and I agree how difficult it can be to freeze the motion of the wings. I'd still have liked the nearest wing to at least have been visible though :-)

Wow Keith, this must be one of my favourite photos of this year. I know you wish you had taken a faster shot, but really this is a perfect photo of this bee and the flower it's aiming for. I look at that flower, and I can imagine having it to put in my resin!!!!! Sorry. LOL
