Glittery sunset
We had a glitter storm today: freezing rain for several hours, coating all the trees and other surfaces with ice.
Then the temperature went up a half degree and it started loosening.
I didn't dare step outside the back door while the sun was setting for fear of being beaned by the chunks of ice falling off the trees. But from the back window I could see across the valley at how much ice was still on the trees up there. And around sunset, the whole scene went peachy pink, then orangey, for a few minutes.
These are birch, juniper, cherry, spruce and fir on the Southside Hill above the highway that runs to the downtown. The Priest's Road, which we walk frequently, invisibly runs across about halfway up the picture.
