Stocked up

When I make a stock out of chicken skin and bones boiled overnight, and then I look at it next day after almost all that skin and bone has been taken out, I think I have brought something valuable into the world. Stock is like gold.

This stock is a staple when we have roast-chicken leftovers, I just dump them with some root vegetables in the slow-cooker overnight... ;-)

Thanks. Yes, it is the top of the stove, and the morning sun shining through the glass bowl.

I use stock in many things, including in otherwise-vegetarian lentil stews that are a favourite here in our house. :)
Yesterday I used some of the lumpier parts of the stock (the settled bits at the bottom of this bowl) in a curry I made from some of the left-over meat plus many other flavourful things. Mmmmm.
