If I witnessed things with my eyes, I did not absorb them with my eyes: they reside in me, not the objects themselves but their images. I know in which sense of the body each image was printed on. Not only that, what the immense capacity of my memory holds. There, too, everything that I have not forgotten, learned in the liberal arts, ends and stay.
