Porta da Vila

The Porta da Vila is the main entrance to Obidos that lies to the southern edge of the fortified perimeter walls. This gateway is possibly the most delightful entrance to any city, as between the two heavily fortified walls is a balcony decorated with traditional blue tiles and exquisite painting. The delicately painted tiles depict the Passion of Christ and originates from the 18th century while the ceiling represents the crown of thorns.
