The Church in the Fields
Buittle Parish Church (also known as St Colman’s Church) is a former Church of Scotland parish church in the civil and ecclesiastical parish of Buittle, Dumfries and Galloway (historic Kirkcudbrightshire), southwest Scotland.
Buittle is a coastal parish between Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas, extending to the Solway Firth; the main settlement is the village of Palnackie. The name derives from Old English bōtl (“dwelling”). The area has strong historical ties to the Lords of Galloway and the Balliol family (John Balliol, King of Scots 1292–1296, and Balliol College, Oxford)
Built in 1918-1919 as a Gothic Revival church (now closed)
Captured during a warm Scottish sunset and a beautiful clear evening that only the west coast can provide, HWW and a good second half of the week!
