Chimneys, Fence & pip,
Vicar's Close in Wells, Somerset, is claimed to be the oldest purely residential street with original buildings surviving intact in Europe. These houses were built in the 14th and early 15th centuries and the close owes its origins to a grant of land and buildings by Walter de Hulle, a canon of Wells Cathedral, (Wikipedia)
Whilst taking these images I listened to beautiful music played on a violin emitting from an open window originating from what I assume was the adjacent music school,
As a point of interest, the houses " line each side of a quadrangle which appears longer than it is because of false perspective achieved by building the houses at the upper northern end nearest the chapel 9 feet (2.7 m) closer together than those at the lower southern end " (Wiki)
PiP shows chimney detail and some deterioration of the stone work.
Shot in 16.9 so a large view would be appreciated,

I really enjoyed looking at this image and thinking about its history. Loved the inset too. Makes me wonder how it avoided getting blown up during the war? (Silly American, I don't know the history of bombings)
