Taboo bananas

Like many other Canadians, I'm boycotting Dole, but I think posting a photo of some of their bananas is acceptable. This photo was taken 7 years before the boycott started.

I doubt that the bananas in the containers that fell off their ship, in a storm, near the Isle of Wight - probably en route for Portsmouth or Southampton, were Dole. If they were it could be revenge for the Boston Tea Party. The containers broke open and beaches between here and Selsey have had various cargoes distributed on the shores, including two feet deep piles of chips (fries to the USA readers), near Beachy Head. Volunteers have been salvaging the plastic bags to stop them harming wildlife. The chips have been left to bio-degrade. I bet the seagulls aren't interested in them raw.

John FitzGerald replied to Phil Sutters:

There's a good chance the chips/fries were a gift from Canada, Phil. McCain's, a Nova Scotia company, produces 25% of the world's supply of the frozen variety. Canadian seagulls seem to like everything, but raw chips do seem like a challenge.

If you have nothing better to do, there's an "interesting" article here:

Thanks, Keith. I'll have to see if I can get in touch with my inner banana.
