It's a big fence, too, Joe, on three sides of a 6-acre lot and a minimum of about 8' high (I couldn't find official figures, so am estimating the height). It also features two kissing gates which are more massive. I suppose that was to impress us with the majesty of the law (the site houses the law society and some courts, and for a long time was the site of a law school, now moved). It was finished in 1867 by Cumberland and Storm, prestigious local architects, and it seems no expense was spared
