it's complicated the city life and circulation !!!!

John FitzGerald replied to Damir:

An interesting point, Damir. One thing that's always interested me is how cities are places where you are told how to behave (by traffic lights, billboards, etc.). The tension between chaos and the attempt to impose order on it may be at bottom what interests me about cities, especially as attempts at order never succeed completely. Thanks for the insight -- I'd never considered the compllication of city much before.

An interesting point, Denis -- giant machines may be the most common monumental objects in out lives. Thanks.

John FitzGerald replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks, Keith. And I agree that the cement mixer can be taken for a praying mantis (a fat one, but you know what I mean).

I also like the "billboard confusing reality". Two people seem to have noticed you, I love the quizzical expression on the girl's face!

John FitzGerald replied to John Sheldon:

Thanks, John. I think you (with your comment about the billboard) and Damir's comment have helped me better understand what I'm doing in a lot of my photos. Of course a quizzical expression alwys produces a quizzical response, which I think is a good thing.

The clothing suggests this is a passing school group. Interesting that the building constructors feel the need for a poster of the projected result.

John FitzGerald replied to tiabunna:

The condo poster is becoming a genre here, George. Maybe I'll try photographing a few. Among other things, they have some interesting memes, A wine glass, for example, is a sign that you'll be moving into a building with a sophisticated and exclusive crowd. You never see people clutching beer bottles on these signs, even though Canadians drink more beer than they drink wine and spirits combined.
