<no title>

I now have my photographing arm in a sling for a week after minor surgery on my elbow (recovering well, thank you), so more old photos are coming. This is a re-edit of a photo I posted on Flickr (feh) years ago. An atrocious capture but. friends, is that all there is to photography? As Canadian Pacific has pointed out, perfection is so overdone in the age of Photoshop.

My nearest equivalent is this shot - which I uploaded before, but took down when I reduced my range of photos. www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/46975744

Get your photography arm back in action pronto!

John FitzGerald replied to Phil Sutters:

Thanks, Phil. That is a fine photo of yours -- a great juxtaposition that makes you think -- about beauty, the commercialization of beauty, how Marilyn was not just beautiful but also the coolest woman on earth, etc.

Counting down to Thursday, when the sling should no longer be necessary.

I hope it's not the prelude to a horror movie. Am I talking about yur picture or our so-called government actions? Or both?

John FitzGerald replied to rdhinmn:

Your government's actions have been good for Canada, Bob. All the political parties stand as one with the prime minister, whose retaliation is widely approved. That's probably the first time that's happened since the Korean War.

You will never taste real maple syrup again.

And for me what you say is not only a truism but "the" danger for these pictures of so long ago for it takes out the time factor in our eyes and mind.
Lovely set, great picture.

John FitzGerald replied to J. Gafarot:

The problem to me, José, is that no one realizes it's a truism. You mention that to people and they seem mystified. Your insight is very interesting, especially as I was talking to a friend this afternoon about how when you're old your memory eliminates the time factor. My memories assume that I have never changed and all seem to have happened last week. That's probably why I have no understanding oh why I've led my life the way I have.

Slightly spooky this one John............especially as it looks as if it has blood round it's mouth!

A discarded baby surely says something about our "throw away" society?

Good to hear you're on the mend.

John FitzGerald replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks, Keith. Baby does look to have been cruelly treated. I have a lot of pseudo-intellectual ideas about images of death and suffering in Our Society, but will spare you. Now that you've mentioned this issue, though, I realize that part of the appeal of the doll is that she seems still to have a chance to overcome the cruelty. Thanks for that, too.

This looks quite perfect to me and is certainly evocative, as witnessed by the comments above ... as for maple syrup, I've weaning myself off that stuff years ago ...
