Parker AZ Colorado (1529)

by Don Barrett (aka DBs travels)
Considering all of the focus on speed on the Colorado, it's surprising to see a simple fishing boat.

January on the Colorado, from Echo Lodge which is on the California shore between Parker Dam and Parker, AZ

Probably because it's January. There's a big change in the demographic from summer (young, big into powerboats) to winter (retirees)! My folks, when their health permitted, used to winter on the lower Colorado, and they laughed about the big transformation that happens in the spring (when the snowbirds leave) and fall (when they come back).

This is something like the fifth time I've looked around the area and I think the only time mid-winter. This is the first time I've seen it when I would describe it as 'pleasant'. Most times I've been through there, there's been so much 'party' atmosphere that I fear I'm going to see an accident at any minute. And then, don't get me started on the issues of noisy, heavy exhaust emitting, power boats, and 2 stroke engine jet skis....
