Neal’s Travel M373 VER in Worlington Rd, Barton Mills – 28 May 1995 (268-9)

Sunday 28 May 1995 - Neal’s Travel M373 VER, a Mercedes-Benz 709D with locally built bodywork by Cambridge based Marshall SPV new to Neal’s in October 1994, seen on the weekend of the Annual Air Fete held at RAF Mildenhall when working the 0936 Suffolk County Council sponsored Ely to Ipswich Sundaybus service 156.

To avoid the heavy traffic and road closures/diversions around RAF Mildenhall for today only the route between Ely and Mildenhall was via Isleham and Worlington rather than via Shippea Hill and Beck Row. The service used Station Road, Barton Mills rather than King Street, Mildenhall as the ‘Mildenhall’ pick up point (this was only 0.4 mile/700 metres distant but being on the south side of the River Lark was in the Parish of Barton Mills).

The bus was about to turn from Worlington Road to Station Road.
