Slipway Sunset
The Burnham on Sea slipway at sunset with the River Parrett Estuary to the left flowing into Bridgwater Bay. The slipway, or jetty, is extensively used both by the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution)and BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat), known also as Burnham Search and Rescue on their rescue missions. Barb uses both boats and hovercraft for this purpose and use the side of the slipway for launching when the tide is too far out to launch from the end. On this beautiful evening though it was peaceful as we watched the setting sun, the warmth of the light catching the jetty and railings. As the beach is west facing Burnham does experience some very beautiful sunsets.
