In der Stadtmitte von Archanes (Kreta) findet sich an einer Hauswand dieses mächtige Graffito, das einen zürnenden Zeus darstellt. Der Hintergrund für dieses eindrucksvolle Wandgemälde: In der Antike glaubten die Kreter, dass auf dem Berg Giouchtas (bei Archanes) der Gott Zeus begraben wurde. Ein Indiz dafür sollte die Form des Gebirges sein, das aus Norden gesehen aussieht wie der Kopf des schlafenden Zeus. In the town centre of Archanes (Crete), this powerful piece of graffiti can be found on a house wall, depicting an wrathful Zeus. The background to this impressive mural: in antiquity the Cretans believed that the god Zeus was buried on Mount Giouchtas (near Archanes). One indication was said to be the shape of the mountain range, which, when viewed from the north, looks like the head of a sleeping Zeus.
