Die Larven ernähren sich von moderndem Holz. Die Käferart gilt in Deutschland (aktuelle Rote Liste) und Mitteleuropa als gefährdet. Den Käfer im Bild fand ich auf einer Wiese in einem windgeschützten, warmen Tal.

I found the beetle in the photo on a meadow in a warm, sheltered valley.
