Auf die biologische Bedeutung dieses weltweit verbreiteten Pilzes habe ich bei einer früheren Veröffentlichung schon einmal hingewiesen: Schizophyllum. Ergänzen möchte ich noch, dass es bei dieser eigenartigen Pilzart mehr als 20000 verschiedene Geschlechtstypen gibt!
Der Pilz spielt nicht nur eine Rolle bei der Holzzersetzung, sondern auch bei der Holzveredlung. Für den Bau kostbarer Geigen, spielt Holz, das vom Spaltblättling befallen war, eine besondere Rolle.

I have already pointed out the biological importance of this worldwide spread fungus in an earlier publication: Schizophyllum. I would like to add that there are more than 20000 different gender types of this peculiar fungus species!
The fungus not only plays a role in wood decomposition, but also in wood finishing. For the construction of precious violins, wood that has been attacked by the split-leaf fungus plays a special role.
