Die Kirche
San Francesco al Prato, Perugia, ist eine entweihte Kirche aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, die heute als Auditorium genutzt wird. Es befindet sich in Perugia, auf dem gleichnamigen Platz, neben dem Renaissance- Oratorium San Bernardino, Teil des Klosterkomplexes San Francesco.
Mit einem einzigen Kirchenschiff, das die ursprüngliche Struktur beibehält, blieb es aufgrund des Einsturzes der Gewölbe aufgrund von Erdrutschen auf dem Hügel jahrelang unbedeckt: Die Denkmäler und Kapellen gingen verloren, die polychrome Fassade wurde jedoch wiederhergestellt.
In den 1930er und 1960er Jahren wurde der entweihte Tempel intern abgerissen. Erst zu Beginn der 2000er Jahre begann eine radikale Restaurierung, die ihn nach einem Originalentwurf von Bruno Signorini in ein Auditorium umwandelte. Die Kirche, eine der ersten in Italien, die nach dem Tod des Heiligen Franziskus erbaut wurde, hatte im Laufe der Jahrhunderte eine bedeutende politisch-sozial-künstlerische Bedeutung für die Ereignisse der Stadt Perugia.
