The Basilica of San Francesco in Arezzo is a church dedicated to Saint Francis in Arezzo, Italy, famous for its cycle of frescoes by Piero della Francesca. He completed them between 1452 and 1466.
The Story of the True Cross is a cycle of frescoes located in the choir of the Bacci Chapel of the Basilica of San Francesco in Arezzo. The work was begun in 1447 by Bicci di Lorenzo. When Bicci died in 1452, the frescoes were commissioned to Piero della Francesca. He completed them between 1452 and 1466.
Large Painted Cross by the Master of St. Francis is also one of famous rarities in the Basilica. The Master of St. Francis, an anonymous Italian artist active in Umbria from about 1250 to 1280.
