The Guards

Found in a tiny, neglected, almost inaccessible park, hidden between giant anonymous warehouses. Funerary-type urns decorated with badges of the industrial past of the area.

The lack of color fills the picture with a certain philosophical meaning and the vases seem to be guards who protect the park from the intrusion of extraneous forces.

Steve Bucknell replied to Maria Rainer-Giotto:

Yes, I’m trying to work out what this abandoned place means to me. The Guards is helpful—I’ll use that as the new title.
Something of an Easter Island feeling to this place. A community long gone. I should have written something down when I lived there; now only these strange sentinels are left. Perhaps I am one of them.
Or, taking the photograph makes me a guard.
