Pre Reformation! HWW!

St Mary's old church & cemetery, Kilmuir, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye.
The church was built in 1694 -- the date is inscribed on a stone over the north door -- to replace an older medieval church that served as the parish church for the Duirinish region of northern Skye.

The most striking memorial inside the burial ground is a large ashlar obelisk commemorating Lord Thomas Fraser, 10th Lord Lovat, who died in 1699

For clarity, a large view would be appreciated, HWW!

Hi Roger
I like this picture very much!
It is a very different composition, and amazing to see it has stood for so long without the stones being nicked / repurposed into something else.
Fantastic colours too
Best Wishes, HWW,, and stay safe!!

Interesting comments Peter, thank you!
This ruin is within a community and on a main road, so has benefitted from better protection than many more remote churches!

Ein landschaftlich passender Zeitzeuge mit sehr schönen Mauersteinen. Mit dieser Handwerkskunst haben sie die Zeit überdauert. Sehr interessant Details. HWW und eine schöne Restwoche, Roger.

A very picturesque ruin, Roger. It looks very similar to Kilbrannan Chapel at Skipness on the Kintyre Peninsula. All the best, Joe.

Lord Thomas Fraser inside his tomb could not imagine that the church and cemetery around would die as well, Roger!
