In 635AD Saint Aidan came from Iona and chose to found his monastery on the island

This Island is off of the Northeast Coast of Northumberland, accessed by a One Mile tidal causeway, which is covered by the North Sea twice daily, therefore a study of tide times is required for a safe crossing.
