Built into a pebble wall at Ferrices Farm, Steart on the Somerset coast, this Post Box has withstood the salty air of the Bristol Channel and Atlantic storms since the reign of Queen Victoria, 1837 -1901. (Seven Monarchs)
Postmen have collected mail from this box in all weathers for at least 120 years, mail would have been transported to the nearest town of Bridgwater by foot or horseback when it was installed (experiments with motor transport for mail only started nationally in 1897)

World wars, The Titanic sinking, Votes for Women, Talking Films, the list is endless.
