Salar de Surire is ringed by volcanoes and lies at 4250m in the far north of Chile, just across the border from Bolivia. It is home (among others) to all 3 Chilean species of flamingo, to vicuña, viscacha, ñandú (suri) and puma. The western part of the salar is used for Lithium mining.

A lovey view, especially with the flamingos.

At this altitude it usually is well below 20°C, I wore a fleece! If you aren't properly acclimatized you'd be gasping for air though- 4250m is no joke;-)
Keep cool in the present heat! (We are still below 30°C today but starting tomorrow the heat will be on)

I'm sure I've seen this place in nature documentaries..........mainly featuring the mating dances the flamingos do!
