Fjaðrárgljúfur is a 2 km long and ca. 100m deep canyon that was created by water erosion about 9000 years ago when a glacial lake emptied and cut through 2 million years old palagonite bedrock.
Since Justin Bieber filmed a video in this place it has been overrun by visitors, the paths turned into bogs and the site had to be closed. The walkway along the top with viewing platforms has now been restored but entrance into the canyon is strictly forbidden (important breeding ground for gyrfalcons).
We visited in the evening in slight drizzle when most of the crowds had gone.

I don't know if you've seen the article in this link: guidetoiceland.is/history-culture/5-reasons-why-you-should-not-travel-like-justin-bieber-in-iceland I thought initially it might amuse you, but on reflection I think it will probably annoy you :-)
